Class description

Urban Kiz 4 – Technique & Creative Expression Target Group: Dancers who are technically comfortable, with solid Urban Kiz vocabulary, and ready to refine technique in order to access more advanced movements, creative expression, and intuitive dancing. Content: -Advanced leading/following technique (e.g. contrabalance, visual/intuitive leading & following, tricks technique, balance and center of gravity, isolation/tension/softness dynamics, coordination, no vision exercisis) -Advanced technique step combinations -Disrupting and varying standard step patterns to unlock creativity & playfulness -Controlled rule-breaking (e.g. frame manipulation, off-axis movements, free movement) -Developing personal style and responsiveness within the Urban Kiz system Distinction: -Builds on clean technique to develop expressive, improvisational dancing -Prioritizes musical nuance, precision, and control -Encourages reinterpretation of known steps to enhance creativity -Pushes the creative boundaries while staying within Urban Kiz, i.e not so much on influence from other Kizomba umbrella genres Goal: To transform solid technique into expressive, creative movement - expanding the dancer’s ability to improvise, play, and create within Urban Kiz.
