Urban Kiz 5 – Musicality, Genre Exploration & Dance Fluency Target Group: Experienced dancers (3+ terms) with strong technique, creativity, and step vocabulary who want to refine musicality, genre awareness, and overall adaptability in partner dancing. Content: -Overview and understanding of genre distinctions: Urban Kiz, Tarraxo, Kizomba, Semba, Douceur, Konpa?. Both (dance) stylistically and musically. -Musicality: interpreting rhythm, phrasing, breaks, and mood shifts -Cross-genre influences and movement integration (e.g. tango, hip hop, afro) -Improvisation and co-creation with varied partners and styles -Expressive identity: blending personal styling with genre-specific technique Distinction: -Expands beyond Urban Kiz to develop genre fluency and musical adaptability -Focuses on self-expression across multiple styles -Prepares dancers to interpret music deeply and with respect to style and co-create with any partner -De-emphasizes set combinations in favor of reactive, intuitive dancing Goal: To cultivate versatile, musically fluent dancers who can move expressively and adaptively across the Kizomba spectrum and beyond.
